A 'drug dealer' was killed in a so-called gun battle between his cohorts and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Nayadiari in Gomostapur Upazila early Friday.
Tipped off that a group of four-five 'drug traders' gathered at a mango orchard for 'drug dealing', a team of RAB conducted a drive there around 1 am, RAB sources said.
Sensing presence of the elite force, the 'drug offenders' opened fire on the RAB members, forcing them to fire back.
After a brief skirmish, the RAB members recovered a bullet wound body from the scene and took him to the Upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead.
A pistol, three bullets, a magazine and 177 bottles of Phensidyl were recovered from the spot.
