Police have been given three days in custody to interrogate Abul Hossain, the father of the ex-husband of journalist Suborna Nodi, who was hacked to death in front of her Pabna’s home late on Tuesday (Aug 28).

Pabna Chief Judicial Magistrate Rashed Hossain Monjur granted the remand on Thursday afternoon (Aus 30) after police pleaded for a seven-day remand, investigation officer of the case Inspector Arbinda told Bangla Tribune.

Thirty-two-year-old Nodi was the editor and publisher of ‘Daily Jagroto Bangla’ and the local correspondent of private satellite channel ‘Ananda TV’.

Following her death, Nodi’s mother filed a case making Suborna’s former husband Razib and his father Abul Hossain the prime suspects.

Abul Hossain owns a pharmaceutical company and a diagnostic centre in Pabna.

Family claimed that Nodi identified her attackers on her deathbed.

“She told me the names of Razib, her husband, his aide Milon and several others who attacked her while I met her at the hospital. Suborna also demanded their death sentence”, her mother Morzina told Bnagla Tribune.
