The government has waived late fines on electricity and gas bills till June, a move to ensure the public does not have to gather at the banks to pay the bills amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Power Division Deputy Secretary Akramuzzman said in a statement on Sunday (Mat 22) that the decision will be put to immediate effect.
The public will now be able to pay bills for the months from February onwards in June without counting a late fine.
State owned gas company Titas Managing Director Ali Md Mamun told Bangla Tribune that the decision has been taken considering the people’s safety.
