The move will mark the highest ever prices of gold in the country’s history.
The decision of price hike was made as the prices of dollar against taka were on the upward trend in local bullion markets, said a statement of the association issued on Tuesday.
As per the new decision, each bhori of 22-carat gold will now cost Tk 61,527, 21-carat Tk59,194, and 18-carat will be sold at Tk 54,179 in the local market.
Also, the price of gold acquired in the traditional method will be Tk 41,407.
However, the price of 21-carat silver has remained unchanged — Tk 933 per bhori.
The last time Bajus hiked the prices was on Jan 5. Prior to that, the prices were also hiked in July, August, November and December last year.
