A general view of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd office in Dhaka FILE PHOTOState-owned Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company is suspending gas supply on a variety of reasons.

Since the right publicity is not being done with a prior notice, most people are left in the dark. While Titas has given notice on their websites, the users feel that before suspending supply, Titas has to carry out a mass campaign.
On Sunday (Jan 12), gas supply was snapped in Rampura and Banasree from 9am till 6pm and an official of Titas says that the connection was switched off to repair an 8 inch pipe.
In Banasree, residents have said that if power lines are snapped then an SMS message is sent beforehand to warn the people.
Another resident complains that gas supply is snapped either in the evening or during the day. Many are forced to eat at restaurants because prior warnings are rare.
MD of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company, Md Al Mamun claims that people were informed through campaigns and possibly the residents did not pay attention.”
“I took over one month ago and whenever we needed to suspend supply, authorized the usage of mikes to inform the people,” he assured.
