Living cost in Dhaka up by 6.5%: CAB

Consumers Association of Bangladesh chief Ghulam Rahman unveils a report on the cost of living and other consumer issues in Dhaka on Tuesday (Jan 5).The living costs in Dhaka has increased by 6,5 percent in 2019, says Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB).
The CAB chief Ghulam Rahman unveiled a report on the cost of living and other consumer issues in Dhaka on Tuesday (Jan 5).
The consumers' rights body prepared the report after observing the prices of 114 food products, 22 essentials and 14 services at 15 kitchen markets across Dhaka, Rahman said.
According to the report, living cost in the capital rose by 6 percent in 2018, too.
In a written statement, the CAB chief said that onion was the much-talked-about kitchen indigent in 2019
"Last year, locally produces onion prices skyrocketed by 49.52 percent while those imported saw a hike of 71.11 percent," Rahman added.
