The country's capital market is marred by rumours, says Finance Minister AHM Mustafa.
"Existing laws will be enforced fully to cheek the rumours in the capital market," he told the media after a meeting with the Dhaka Stock Exchange's (DSE) top officials at the Economic Relations Division (ERD) in capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Thursday (Jan 2).
Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Khairul Hossain, DSE Chairman Abul Hashem, Managing Director Abdul Matin Patwari, Directors Rakibur Rahman, Shakil Rizvi and Minhaz Mannan Emon, among others, were present in the meeting.
The minister said the stock markets are not turning around due to rumours.
Besides, many are demanding Taka be devaluated against US Dollars, he said adding that it would not happen for the time being.
The BSEC has been directed to address its legal weaknesses [to strengthen the capital market], Kamal said.
