The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has banned sales, distribution, and hoarding of 15 products of 13 companies revoking its licenses.
The standard regulators also prohibited the marketing of these products, said a BSTI statement issued on Sunday (Dec 23).
It said the decision came after the BSTI surveillance team examined samples of different products collected from markets.
The manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers and retailers of these products have been ordered to stop trading before the respective companies acquire fresh licence, the statement added.
According to the statement, the banned products are iodine-associated salts of Bismillah Salt Factory, Janata Salt Mill and Ifad Salt and Chemical Ltd; vermicelli (laccha semai) products of Raven Company Limited and JK Food Products Ltd; fortified soybean oils of Shakti Edible Ltd, Kichena AK Khan Food and Beverage Ltd; skin creams of GM Chemical Works, Modern Cosmetics and Herbal Industries Ltd; New Chattala Ltd, turmeric powder of Premi Agro Food Ltd.
Three products of Khazana Mithai Ltd has been faced the ban – its clarified butters, chanachur and semai.
