Jewellers have raised gold prices for the second time in a month.
In a statement on Wednesday (Dec 18), Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) announced the new prices, effective from Thursday (Dec 19).
It said the price per bhori (11.66 grams) of 22, 21, and 18-carat gold has been raised by Tk 1,166 with no change in the rates of the traditional method, and silver.
The prices went up due to fall in the value of US dollar against taka in local market, the statement added.
As per the revised prices, retail jewellery buyers will pay Tk 59,194 per bhori of 22-carat gold, Tk 56,862 per bhori of 21-carat, and Tk 51,846 per bhori of 18-carat gold.
At present, the price for gold in the traditional method is set at Tk 29,160, and for 21-carat silver at Tk 933 per bhori.
