Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission, BERC, has recommended the fixing of a separate power charge chart for battery run vehicles.

The proposal was made, on Sunday (Dec 1) at the TCB Auditorium during a hearing on the hike of the price of power.

The recommendations were made by the deputy director (tariff) Md. Kamruzzaman. The recommendation said that at the district and upazila level, people from low-income sections of society use battery-run three-wheelers and rickshaws and this form of transport is also very popular and so, determining LT-D-3 for battery charging stations would be wise.

In the future, eco-friendly and power-saving vehicles will rise and therefore, charging stations need to have 11 KV connections, it was stated. In such a state, a new category called MT-7 needs to be created.

At present, there are more than six hundred thousand battery run vehicles in the country. At the hearing, BERC chairman Monowar Islam, member, Rahman Murshed and others were present.
