Income tax fair has drawn huge response among the taxpayers, says National Board of Revenue (NBR) chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan.
“The presence of female taxpayers is promising as they accumulated around 30% of the total on Thursday (Nov 14),” he told the media after visiting ongoing weeklong Income Tax Fair 2019 at capital’s Officers’ Club on Friday (Nov 15).
Bhuiyan said, “In comparison with the previous year, a larger number of people are paying taxes. The tax collection has swelled with a 42% growth.”
“As businesses don’t pay taxes according to expected margins, NBR will ensure transparency and responsibility of the country’s accounting firms,” he added.
Income Tax Fair 2019 has begun in the capital and other divisional headquarters across the country on Nov 13 aiming to help the taxpayers fill returns and facilitate other tax-related works.
This edition of the fair will continue till Nov 19 with the slogan “Will pay taxes together, motherland to be self-reliant” and the theme “Voluntary participation in paying taxes, implementation of the vision is ensured”.
