Bangladesh Bank has issued a clean note circulation policy directing all bank officials to refrain from putting seals or staples on currency bundles or writing on banknotes, effective immediately.
The central bank’s Currency Management Department issued a circular on Monday (Sept 9) addressing all managing directors and CEOs of all commercial banks.
It has become a habit for bank officials to write on banknotes, put seals on them and staple the note bundle, which must not be practised further, it reads.
Only bundles of Tk 1,000 notes can be stapled, it adds.
