The Bangladesh Bank has asked all banks to aid the dengue patients in need as a part of their social responsibility.
The central bank made the call in a circular on Wednesday (Jul 31), in the wake of the nationwide dengue outbreak.
The circular said: “Banks can help cover dengue test fees, blood collection, medicine costs, saline, nets, and other medical costs.”
Expenses incurred under the medical assistance have been instructed to be filed under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Around 4,408 dengue patients have been hospitalized across Bangladesh, with the highest 3,561 in Dhaka alone from January till July 30, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
