The Bangladesh Regulatory Commission (BRC) will be announcing another hike in gas prices on Sunday (Jun 30) evening.
The announcement will be made at a media briefing at 4 pm, a commission employee wishing to remain told Bangla Tribune.
However, the percentage hike will depend on government subsidies. The more subsidies the government provides, the less the prices will increase.
In February this year, the gas distribution companies proposed a 102 percent hike in gas prices after which the commission held a public hearing in March.
As per the rule of announcing the price within 90 days of the hearing, the commission will announce it on Sunday.
According to the distribution companies, gas prices need to be hiked due to the import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
Gas prices were last increased by 22.70 in February of 2017 which was implemented in March.
