By 2030 Bangladesh will start giving foreign loans instead of taking them, claimed Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
“There was a time when Malaysia, Korea and China used to be very poor. Now they are one of the developed countries in the world” he told the Parliament on Saturday (Jun 29).
“If they can do it, why can’t we,” he said, adding that the government was working towards a goal to ensure that Bangladesh can be an aid giving country by 2030.
On the budget, his first since taking the finance ministry’s portfolio he said, “This budget is not just for one year. We can benefit from it till 2024.”
The minister said that the framework of this budget can be used till 2014 and it has been designed in a way that the country cannot be held back under any circumstance.
