BSTI revokes licences of 2 more products, suspends 25 others

A general view of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution office in Dhaka.Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has revoked the licence of two more products of two companies and suspended the licence of another 25 products for substandard food items.
The standards regulator also ordered the manufacturers to pull out the products, which licence has been revoked, from the markets within 24 hours, it said in a statement issued on Thursday (May 16).
The licence of Kiran Lachchha Seemai of M/S Kiran Products (Naogaon) and Pure Hathazari Maricher Gura of SS Consumer Products (Chattogram) were cancelled, reads the statement.
The products are among the 52 food items that have been found substandard by BSTI recently.
On Wednesday (May 15), BSTI cancelled the licence of seven products and suspended the license of another 18 of different companies for the same issue.
The standard testing authority said it collected samples of some 406 food products of 27 types and ran the tests. It then published the result of test on 313 products where 52 products were found substandard.
