Process underway to bring power from Nepal: Nasrul

“The country’s private sector is producing 9,331 MW power. Power generation with joint investment in Bangladesh has got good organizational shape,” he told a Nepali delegation at his office on Monday (Apr 29), reports BSS.
The 15-member team of Independent Power Producer Association of Nepal told the minister that the country has got a promise of $17 billion investment during the ‘Investment Summit-2019″.
They said hydropower which should be one of the main sectors for investment in Nepal and got proposal for generating 5,110 MW at a cost of $7.7 billion, says the BSS report.
The delegation said Nepal is expected to export at least 9,000MW power to Bangladesh within the next 10 years, according to the state news agency.
During the meeting, Hamid said there are united and coordinated efforts to enhance the regional cooperation, adding, “Bilateral or trilateral dialogue would have to continue to increase private sector cooperation.”
