Export-import activities have been disrupted at the Hili land port in Dinajpur as the National Board of Revenue (NBR) closed its server on Wednesday, one day before the budget was placed.
The Deputy Commissioner of the land customs station Md Rezvi Ahmed said, duties on many items were revised in the budget and the update information needs to be incorporated in ASYCODA World software used by NBR for customs purpose.
The finance minister placed his budget on Thursday and the server was shut down a day back.
“The activities will resume when the server will be functional,” he said adding, the revised duty will be applicable for the goods to be traded through the land customs station. This move resulted in shutting down all kinds of bill entries, checking product qualities and deliveries and collecting tax, Hili Land Port Export-Import Group president Md Harun-Ur-Rashid told Bangla Tribune.
A huge congestion of trucks could chain up before the port operations resume on Saturday, he added.
The importers are to face huge losses as over five hundred truck stuck in the port, Harun said.
