Govt warns of stern measures against price hike in Ramadan

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi speaking at a meeting on Wednesday (Mar 27).The prices of everyday products will not go up during Ramadan and strict measures will be taken against extortion of any kind, said Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi.
“There is enough stock and supply of daily essentials in the market,” he said on Wednesday (Mar 27).
“There is no reason for a price hike as the supply is adequate,” he added.
The minister said that the district administration will take steps against extortion of any kind in the market.
The minister called on the manufacturers and importers to provide receipts during the sale and the retailers to sell the products at reasonable prices.
“Legal action will be taken against anyone trying to create a false crisis,” he said.
Saying that the prices were less compared to last year, he added that the shipping of imported products will be given priority so that there is no hold up anywhere.
“Necessary steps will be taken in order to ensure that there is no hindrance in the production of goods manufactured in the country,” he said.
Munshi urged the businessmen to cooperate and exemplify responsible behavior during the upcoming Ramadan.
