The government has called apparel manufacturers to clear their workers’ wages and festival allowances by Jun 10.
The call to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) came during a meeting at the Home Ministry on Sunday.
“Garment owners have been requested to pay all salaries by Jun 7 and festival allowances by Jun 10,” Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told the media after the meeting.
Sunday’s meeting decided that garment workers would leave on Eid holiday in phases on Jun 12, 13 and 14 to reduce congestion on the highways, said the minister.
