Stock markets opened week flat on Sunday (Mar 3) with major indices finishing slightly up and daily values of the transactions declining on cautious buying, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the opening session with 11.25 points up at 5,723.08. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 3.77 points up at 2,002.42 and with 3.27 points up at 1,317.91.
The daily trade value declined to Tk 6.62 billion from Wednesday’s Tk 6.89 billion. But the volume rose to 146.1 million shares from 144.5 million shares of the previous week’s closing session.
Out of the day’s 340 issues, 139 closed higher against 153 losing securities.
The day’s major gainers were Intech, LHBL, Monno Ceramics, VFSTDL and Premier Bank. The most losing securities were Sonargaon, Eastern Insurance, Takaful Insurance, BIFC and BNICL.
Monno Ceramics topped the turnover list followed by Singer BD, Premier Bank, Fortune and BSCCL. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) began the week upward with its major CASPI index closing flat in green at 17,501.91.
Out of the 254 issues traded on the CSE, 118 closed lower against 95 advancing securities when 19.9 million shares changed hands for Tk 491.3 million.
