National Board of Revenue (NBR) is going to introduce medal for the revenue officials to encourage them to boost tax collection.

Officials of NBR’s three divisions -income tax, customs and value added tax (VAT) would get this “revenue medal” as the acknowledgment of their special contribution to revenue collection, reports state news agency BSS.

NBR Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told BSS that they have started the process of necessary policy formulisation and planned to introduce the recognition this year.

“Revenue Medal is planned to introduce in similar way of Police Medal,” he said, adding, “We are going to introduce this medal to encourage the officials working for tax collection.”

NBR Primarily decided the medals would be in three categories – President Revenue Medal, Finance Minister Revenue Medal and NBR Chairman Medal, revealed the chairman, adding, “The medals will be conferred in Income Tax Day, Customs Day and VAT Day.”

Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said NBR would consider professionalism, honesty, efficiency and contribution in revenue collection of the officials to confer the medals.
