Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

The falling major sectors were engineering, textile, insurance and pharmaceuticals and chemicals. A total of 141 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 19.68 points down at 5,801.33. The Shariah DSES also closed the day with 4.12 points up at 2,003.84. But, the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 0.78 point up at 1,311.38.
The daily trade fell to 240.7 million shares from Thursday’s 260.3 million shares and the day’s trade value at the DSE decreased to Tk 9.84 billion from Tk 9.93 billion of the previous session.
At the DSE, prices of 133 securities out of the day’s 346 closed higher against 186 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were ICBAMCL2ND, BSCCL, BNICL, CITYGENINS and East Land. The major losing companies were Apollo Isphat, Zahin Tex, United Insurance, Imam Button and Hakkani Pulp.
BSCCL topped the turnover list followed by UPGDCL, KPCL, GP and MPETROLEUM.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with a downward trend with its major CASPI 109.02 points down at 17,781.90.
At the CSE, 274 issues were traded. Of those, 99 closed higher and 166 closed lower when 13.6 million shares worth Tk 367.3 million changed hands.
