Japan keen to sign FTA

Japan-BangladeshJapan has evinced its keenness to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Bangladesh aimed at boosting bilateral trade and commerce between the two friendly countries, reports state news agency BSS.

The country came up with the interest while Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Hiroyasu Izumi and representatives of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) met Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal at his secretariat on Wednesday (Jan 23) in the capital, said a media release on Thursday (Jan 24).

During the meeting, they discussed various bilateral issues, including trade and business expansion.

Kamal said Bangladesh is the suitable place for investment as the government is providing all sorts of supports to the investors in the country.

He urged the Japanese investors to come forward with more investment in the country’s different sectors.

Hiroyasu Izumi assured the finance minister that Japan would continue their supports to Dhaka in future.
