Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said that he would start working from where his predecessor AMA Muhith left off.
“I will go to him whenever needed to run the ministry,” he said on Thursday (Jan 24).
The minister said that in the last ten years, a joint effort by National Board of Revenue (NBR) has led to the revenue collection to go from Tk 580 billion to Tk 3000 billion.
“In the last 10 years people’s income per head have gone from dollar 583 to 1700.”
The minister pledged to work so that Bangladesh can get invited to the G-20 summit by 2041.
Meanwhile, former finance minister Muhith has expressed his wish to be beside the ministry for the budget planning of the next fiscal year.
He said that the tax and revenue collection against the GDP was still not up to the mark.
