Stocks continue to rise

The day’s trade value at the DSE increased to Tk 10.4526 billion from Tuesday’s (Jan 22) Tk 8.9066 billion and the daily trade also rose to 336.1 million share from 268.9 million share of the previous session, reports state news agency BSS.

The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 59.78 points up at 5,925.24. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 16.92 points up at 2,043.03 and 2.44 points up at 1,321.79 respectively.

At the DSE, prices of 165 securities out of the day’s 346 closed higher against 150 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were United Finance, IFIC, Continental Insurance, Eastland Insurance and Dhaka Insurance. The major losing issues were Daffodil Computer, Northern Jute, SS Steel, Gemini Sea and ICBAMCL2ND.

Premier Bank topped the turnover list followed by UPGDCL, IFIC, City Bank and Legacy Foot, adds the report.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 204.70 points up at 18,212.16.

At the CSE, 267 issues were traded. Of those, 124 closed higher and 126 closed lower.
