Red MeatDhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Monday fixed the prices of red meat ahead of Ramadan.

The authority fixed the price of per kilogram local beef at Tk 450 – a Tk 25 down from last year's Ramadan price, and foreign beef at Tk 420, mutton and lamb at Tk 600 and buffalo meat at Tk 420 decreasing Tk 20 each from the previous year’s prices.

Super shops were also instructed to follow the revised price list.

DSCC mayor Sayeed Khokon disclosed the revised prices after a views-exchange meeting with meat traders in the capital’s Nagar Bhaban.

Asking the traders to maintain quality and quantity, the mayor warned of legal action over defying the instruction.

Addressing the views-exchange meeting, Bangladesh Meat Traders Association Secretary General Rabiul Alam urged the city authorities to set up sufficient modern slaughter houses to maintain quality.

Extra toll is collected from Gabtoli cattle market. Sometimes cattle traders get tortured but no legal action taken, alleged the trader leader.

He also called for setting up a permanent cattle market in the Dhaka South City Corporation area.
