Indian low-cost airline Indigo has received the Bangladesh regulator’s nod to operate flights.
Its general sales agent (GSA) in Bangladesh says they hope to launch flights to and from Kolkata in May.
Sources at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh say, the airlines filed an application in 2016 and on Apr 5 this year, it was approved.
The airline has been cleared to operate seven flights a week.

Its fleet contains 161 aircraft, which includes 32 Airbus A320s and 6 ATRs, says the airline.
Four Bangladeshi airlines, including the national flag carrier Biman, operate flights to Kolkata with three Indian airlines— Air India Express, Spice Jet and Jet Airways.
The airlines, is, however, yet to announce fares.
“It will be fixed very soon and we expect flights operations to launch in May,” said M Rezaul Karim, director of Renaissance Aviation Services, a GSA of Indigo.
