We have informed the EU about the upcoming parliamentary elections, said commerce minister, Tofail Ahmed.
“We have told them that next election will be under the current government and as per the constitution.”
The senior minister made these comments while talking to the media after the ‘European Union Bangladesh Business Climate Dialogue’.
The EU countries want to invest in several sectors of Bangladesh and have urged for the improvement of investment climate and infrastructure, said the minister.
“We have told the EU that there is a conducive environment in Bangladesh for investment and if they want to invest then we can give them one economic zone of the 100 planned by the government.”
By 2025, we shall be a developed nation though the privileges from EU as a least developed country will remain till 2027, added Tofail Ahmed.
“EU countries export $ 21.33 billion worth of goods to Bangladesh while Bangladesh exports goods worth $ 3.5 billion to the EU states.”
