Electricity bill in Bangla

Electricity BillThe government is introducing electricity bills in Bangla so that general people can understand its content easily. A brief report of the development of power sector will be printed on the new bill.
Power Division has recently issued a directive in this regard with a deadline of one month to make the language change.
Power cell have been instructed to coordinate the implementation.
The directive signed by Additional Secretary of the Power Division says, “Bills must include the Branding logos of ‘Innovative Initiative’ (Udvaboni Udyog) and ‘Sheikh Hasina’s initiative, electricity in every house’ (Sheikh Hasinar Udyog, Ghore Ghore Biddut)”
All electricity providers in the country have been directed to change their bills to an identical format.
People related with the initiative said, people living in the rural areas will be able to understand their bills easily since most of them do not understand English.
Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), Rural Electrification Board (REB), Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC), Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO), Northern Electric Supply Company (NESCO) and West Zone Power Distribution Company (WZPDL) provide electricity to almost 25 million subscribers.
Director General of Power Cell Mohammad Hossain told Bangla Tribune, “We have been trying to introduce Bangla bills for quite some time now, but all the power distributing companies are not doing it despite repeated instructions. Some made their bills in partial Bangla while others are still in English.”
“Strict directive is issued this time,” he added.
