Mobile internet back onMobile 3G and 4G internet services have been switched back on, 24 hours after it was shut for what the telecom regulator claimed due to technical glitches.
Mobile internet slowed down since Saturday evening and gradually was down reduced to 2G service after 10:30pm amid speculations that it was curbed on government orders to check the fanning of fake news on social media.
“Technical issues are causing the problems across the country. We are working to resolve the issue” BTRC Senior Assistant Director Zakir Hossain Khan said on Sunday.
The disruption came amid various rumours swirling on the social media over the student demonstrations demanding safer roads.
According to the BTRC, there are 87.8 million internet connections in the country as of June this year and 93.43 percent of it were mobile connections.
