Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB).Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh, (ISPAB), has decided to reduce the price of Internet by implementing the VAT law of the government.
The body says that despite facing losses, they will bring down the rates as per government rules.
The Government has been notified of the possible loss to be faced by ISPAB. The internet service providers hope that the government will amend the VAT laws.
Under the currently amended law, 5 per cent VAT has been fixed instead of 15 for broadband purchase and individual internet services respectively.
This invalidated the previous 15 per cent waiver ISPAB’s got in purchasing bandwidth and for transmission charges.
In any case, the monthly Internet bill will be cut down for subscribers, ISPAB assured.
The association informs that the issue of excess expenses for the internet providers was raised at a meeting with the National Board of Revenue, NBR, requesting suggestion and re-assessment.
The NBR has also promised to re-evaluate the VAT laws.
