Cellular net speed downgrade affects F-Commerce ventures

Facebook based entrepreneurs were affected during 3G, 4G services outage (/CCO)Due to the stoppage of 3G and 4G internet services in mobile, Facebook based entrepreneurs were affected. Most of the pages of F-Commerce depend on views from mobile and they faced almost closure. On the other hand, use of broadband mobile rose 10-12 per cent while mobile Internet revenue fell by 22-24 per cent.

This happened since Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) directed telecom operators to shut down 3G and 4 G internet services

General Secretary of E-Cab, Abdul Wahed Tomal, says, “When Internet is shut, e-commerce faces problems and the losses can be brought down if an alternative way is adopted to keep the e commerce running while shutting down 3G and 4G.”

This also affects digital payment facilities, he added.

A leading official of a phone company said, “Our Internet revenue fell precipitously by 22-24 per cent.”

General secretary of Internet service providing body, ISPAB, Imdadul Huq, said, “While the mobile net was down, broadband use went up.”

Currently, the country has over 91.8 million Internet users with 6 million broadband connections.
