The old system of licence based streaming, IP TV and video on demand has been opened, scrapping the need for a permit.
Relevant people believe that with this, usage of Internet will rise and subscribers will be given Internet facilities. So far, there was restriction on the Internet Service Providers or ISPs.
Using one Internet Protocol or IP number, several services are provided like Internet, IP telephone, IP TV, audio on demand and others. Though one IP was used a lot, new licence had to be taken every time.
President of the Internet service providers association, Aminul Hakim, told Bangla Tribune: “due to BTRC’s directive, a triple play system has been launched; the control of cable TV operators will diminish and quality of TV picture will improve.”
It will take two months to fully start this facility and once started, the usage of Internet will rise and service can be proved at affordable rates, said Aminul.
With this system, IP phone can also be used in mobiles through an app.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Board, BTRC, has given approval to four organisations to provide this service.
