Korean firm keen to work more on Bangladesh’s digital payment system

Cho Jung-il, CEO of Kona I.South Korean smart card manufacturer Kona I has expressed its interest to work more on the digital payment system and security software in Bangladesh
Cho Jung-il, CEO of Kona I, revealed their interest during a recent visit to Dhaka, said a press release.
Cho said, “In 1998 Kona I have contributed to creating a smarter world with its information communication technology. A lot of people from home and abroad benefit from this, using card transportation systems, digital money, mobile commerce systems, and smart card platforms developed by Kona I.”
The Korean firm operated in Bangladesh under the name of Kona Software Lab Limited.
“Now the company is working in more than 90 countries of the world and Kona has started its journey in Bangladesh since 2012. At present, the work is going on in various projects at home and abroad to create convenient payment system and payment related security software,” the CEO said.
Referring Bangladesh as a potential country, Cho, an expert in the software sector, said that his company is working on various challenging projects all over the world. Technologies like artificial intelligence are evolving.
“In future, Kona will bring integrated service solution here in Bangladesh,” he added.
Kona is providing chip card to more than 30 Banks in Bangladesh with the company working on EMV, HCE, NFC and QR Code Technology for digital payment and wallet service.
Giving importance to the Bangladeshi market Kona will research more and create skilled manpower. Cho said, he will help to explore the startups and will also help different relevant university projects.
In order to make the end-users’ daily life safe and secure, Cho highlighted the goal of creating new products and services, combining the latest technology.
The CEO emphasized to give more importance on the expansion of literacy on information and communication technology.
