Rabbi, Evans star as Kings beat Victorians

A four-wicket haul by pacer Kamrul Islam Rabbi and a century by Laurie Evans have powered Rajshahi Kings to beat Comilla Victorians by 38 runs in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in Dhaka on Monday (Jan 21).
Kings’ bowlers restricted the Victorians in 138 runs in 18.2 overs after Rajshahi franchise posted a big total of 176 runs.
For Victorians, Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque started well. But, Tamim fell to Rabbi -- first wicket of the innings.
Qais Ahmed and Ryan ten Doeschate took two wickets each for Kings.
Victorians won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Kings, sent to bat first, lost three quick wickets in 28 runs.
But a 148-run partnership between Ryan ten Doeschate and Evans in the fourth wicket stand helped the side post 176.
Evans hit the ongoing BPL’s first ton with 104 not out off 62 balls hitting nine fours and six sixes. Ryan ten Doeschate hit unbeaten 59.
Liam Dawson took two wickets for the Victorians, and Mehedi Hasan bagged another one.
In the next match, Victorians will face Dhaka Dynamites on Jan 22 while Kings will lock horns with Chittagong Vikings on Jan 23.
