A timely century by Mushfiqur Rahim has helped Bangladesh set a target of 262 runs against Sri Lanka in the 14th Asia Cup opener in UAE.
Bangladesh scored 261 all out in 49.3 overs at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday (Sept 15).
Mushfiqur Rahim contributed 144 runs off 150 balls hitting 11 boundaries and four over boundaries.
Wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Mithun hit his maiden international half century scored half century, contributing 63 off 68 balls.
Bangladesh lost Liton Kumar Das and Shakib Al Hasan in the first over of their innings before Tamim Iqbal was retired hurt in the next over while Bangladesh scored just three runs.
Tamim batted again in 47th over to give company to Mushfiqur.
Sri Lankan’s Lasith Malinga bagged maximum four wickets, followed by Dhananjaya de Silva, who bagged two wickets.
