Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad’s overall health condition has not changed much in the last few days, said his younger brother GM Quader.
“His health has improved in certain cases while deteriorated in others,” he told the media on Wednesday (Jul 10).
“The doctors are hoping for his condition to improve if it remains unchanged for seven to eight days,” he said.
Saying that Ershad has been kept sedated, he added, “His blood pressure and oxygen consumption is stable and his lung infection has improved too.”
GM Quader, who serves as the party’s acting chief said that the former military dictator’s kidney is not functioning properly and he is undergoing dialysis.
Responding to a query on the matter, he said, “The doctors at Singapore deem it risky for him to be flown abroad.”
He added that a medical board has been set up at the Combined Medical Hospital (CMH) and they are consulting with doctors at Singapore and that Ershad is being given top class treatment there.
The 89-year-old leader opposition was admitted to the CMH on Jun 26 and his condition hasn’t been better since then.
