A key ally in the 20-party Alliance, Jamaat, helped the collation, which was then Four-party Alliance, to assume office in 2001.

Jamaat Islami has told its workers and activists that all decisions of the party will be communicated through amirs, secretary general and district leaders.

On Jan 14 , this warning was mentioned in a two page directive sent after a party central committee meeting.

A directive sent recently after the resignation of Abdur Razzaq, also said that in the current situation of the country, important proposals are being sent to the members for assessment.

Lamenting the resignation of Razzak, the letter recognised his past efforts, asking everyone to refrain from making any derogatory remarks about him.

Regarding the ousting of Mojibur Rahman Monju from the party, the letter said, “For the last few years, he has publicly expressed a variety of views on the party and he was warned several times.”

Recently, he talked about forming a new body outside the decision of the party which is in contravention to the party rules, the letter added.
