BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. File PhotoThe government is carrying out a campaign of vengeance against Ziaur Rahman and they want to erase his name and grave, said BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He made the comments on Wednesday (Feb 13) at a press conference held at the party’s Naya Paltan office.

Saying that the ‘envious’ AL government is indulging in a new conspiracy to eradicate the memory of Ziaur Rahman, the person who declared the independence, he added, “Now they want to occupy Chattrogram Zia Memorial Museum.”

Rizvi alluded to the cabinet meeting on Feb 11 last where deputy minister for education, Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, placed a proposal with the PM’s consent to turn the Zia museum into a Liberation Memorial Museum.

Insulting a valiant freedom fighter is tantamount to undermining the liberation war and independence, he observed.
