Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader. FILE PHOTOPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s invitation is meant for exchanging post-election greetings, said ruling Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
“Prime minister wants to invite the 75 parties including Jatiya Oikya Front, who joined the pre-polls talks, to exchange post-polls greetings,’ he said on Monday (Jan 14).
Speaking at a party programme at the city’s Gulistan, Quader said, “We are not inviting anyone for talks. No dialogue, (only) greetings will be exchanged.”
Referring to greetings from democratic countries on AL’s polls win, Quader argued, “there is nothing to talk over the polls as the world has no doubt over the 11th parliamentary polls.”
The senior AL leader urged party activists not to ‘exercise power’ over general people despite their astounding landslide victory in the Dec 30 election.
Quader, who is also the road transport minister, hinted that process is on to separate the party and the government.
“Problem inside the party should be fixed first if we want to ensure AL’s victory in future,” he said.
