Bangladesh Chhatra LeagueOn Friday (Jan 4), Chhatra League, the student wing of ruling Awami League, has stepped into its 71 years of glory, tradition, success and struggle.
The student wing was formed by father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on this day in 1948. Under his leadership, Chhatra League began its journey from Fazlul Huq Hall of Dhaka University.
In the then Pakistan, the Awami Muslim League emerged as the first opposition party in Pakistan, which later took the name Awami League and spearheaded the independence movement.
At different points of time, Chhatra League leaders have led and still lead pivotal political movements.
Elaborate preparations were been taken to mark the anniversary with a four-day programme though the sudden death of former AL general secretary has halted the celebrations.
It’s central committee president Rezwanul Huq Chowdhury Shovon told Bangla Tribune, “Chhatra League will work relentless in the spirit of the liberation war and devote itself to constructing a developed and progressive Bangladesh.”
Shovon wished long life for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and hoped that her dream of seeing Bangladesh as a developed and respected nation will materialise.
