The ruling Awami League (AL) has reported the Election Commission on political allies using its polls symbol ‘boat’.
A party delegation led by Organising Secretary Mahibul Islam handed over a letter to the EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed on Sunday (Nov 11).
Islam, however, did not disclose details. “We informed the EC about the parties (sharing the polls symbol) but I am not authorised to disclose it,” he told the media.
Several others parties of AL-led 14-party Alliance separately wrote to the EC to contest the polls with their own symbol or AL’s ‘boat’.
Hasanul Haq Inu-led Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, an unregistered party, also wrote to the EC as it wants to use AL’s ‘boat’ symbol to contest the 11th Parliamentary Election slated for Dec 23.
