BNP-led 20-party Alliance has announced that it will participate in the upcoming 11th national elections.

The announcement came on Sunday (Nov 11) simultaneously with the Jatiya Oikya Front's announcement in separate media calls. 

Key leader of the 20-party Alliance and Liberal Democratic Patry (LDP) Chairman Dr Col (Retd) Oli Ahmed made the announcement in a press briefing at the BNP chief's Gulshan political office in the capital.

He said their decision to take part in polls came for the sake of preserving of democratic continuity.

"We expect that Khaleda Zia will be set free ahead of the election to ensure level playing field," Ahmed said before demanding to defer the polls by at least one month.
