The BNP has now become a nationally and globally recognised terrorist party after the court’s verdict, ruling Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said.
He made the comment to journalists on Friday (Oct 12) after visiting the construction site of Padma Bridge Rail-connection in Madaripur
Referring to the indictment of few BNP leaders including their acting party chief Tarique Rahman, Quader said that the party has lost all sense of morality along with its image.
“They (BNP) have made terrorism and politics synonymous,” added the senior AL leader.
On Wednesday (Oct 10), Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 gave the death penalty to former BNP ministers Lutfozzaman Babar, Abdus Salam Pintu and 17 others for their involvement in the 2004 attack on an Awami League rally at the capital’s Bangabandhu Avenue.
BNP chief and former premiere Khaleda Zia’s son, Tarique Rahman is currently a fugitive who has been given life sentence along with 18 others in the same case.
