Greater National Unity: Liaison panel formation deferred on BNP’s requestThe forming of a liaison committee for the ‘Greater National Unity’, forged by AQM Bodruddoza Chowdhury-led Jukto Front and Dr Kamal Hossain’s Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, has been deferred on the BNP’s request.
Chowdhury announced the decision before the media on Tuesday after a meeting of the political platforms, where BNP Vice Chairman Iqbal Mahmud Tuku joined as an observer.
“It has been agreed in the meeting that the liaison committee will be formed after Sept 29 in line with the BNP’s proposal,” said former president and Bikalpa Dhara chief Chowdhury.
He said they discussed the “overall political scenario” and that they “were a step closer to the BNP”.
“The BNP representative said they have a rally on Sept 29. The liaison committee will be formed after that rally on their request. They (BNP) will unveil future plans from the rally,” said Chowdhury.
He said that they went to forge unity with all parties, except for anti-Liberation elements.
Asked whether he would attend the BNP’s rally, the Bikalpa Dhara chief replied: “I am yet to be invited.”
BNP leader Tuku, who represented the party in the meeting, said that they will unveil their plans at the Sept 29 rally.
