Senior BNP leaders led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir have joined the citizen's rally called by Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya for forging a greater national unity ahead of the upcoming parliamentary election.
The others are BNP Standing Committee members Moudud Ahmad, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Abdul Muyeen Khan.
Several leaders of parties in the BNP-led 20-party Alliance have also attended the rally at the at Mahanagar Natya Mancha in Dhaka’s Gulistan.
Jukta Front chairman and Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh President Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury is attending at the rally as the chief guest.
On Sept 15, Chowdhury-led Juktafront and Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya formally announced forging of a “greater national unity” to ensure that people elect their representatives through a fair election.
The national unity also aims at ensuring a functional democracy in the country.
