DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia addressing a media call at the DMP headquarters on Saturday. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has obtained audio conversations of several political leaders who attempted to incite violence amid student protests for road safety.
“You are aware of audio and video clips of leaders. We are in possession of such conversation of several others, where they were heard of discussing plots to deploy infiltrators to unleash violence,” Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia told the media on Saturday.
He said that several people have been prosecuted and more have been detained.
“No one will be spared,” Mia told a media call at the DMP headquarters.
From the very outset, the government said that it found the students’ demands logical and reasonable, said the DMP commissioner.
“But there has been propaganda. A picture of a house help being tortured in Morocco was passed off as a student. Photographs as old as from 2013 and 2014 were circulated in an effort to destabilise the situation,” added Mia.
The plot against the student protests, violence in 2013, 2014 and 2015 are linked to each other, the DMP boss said in a clear reference to the BNP and its allies.
