The Islamic Foundation has urged Muslims in Bangladesh to pray observing Shab-e-Meraj from homes home amid the global coronavirus outbreak.
“We urge citizens to offer prayers at home,” Islamic Foundation Director Anisur Rahman Sarkar said on Sunday.
Every year on the ocassion of Shab-e-Meraj, a Milad and Waz-Mahfil is organised by the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. However, there will be no such events this year due to coronavirus, he added.
Two people have, so far, died from virus infections in Bangladesh and 24 cases have been reported, according to IEDCR, the government’s disease control agency.
The global death toll from coronavirus has crossed 13,000 as of Sunday.
