Top criminal Zeesan’s name came up in recent corruption crackdown

Zeesan AhmedAfter remaining a fugitive for 13 years, listed top terror, Zeesan Ahmed, was arrested in Dubai, UAE.
Zeesan was arrested on Wednesday (Oct 3) night following an information exchange between INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau, Dubai and National Central Bureau, NCB, Dhaka.
AIG of NCB, Mohiul Islam, said: “Dhaka office began communicating with Dubai two months earlier and after sending images, the Dubai office began work.”
Dhaka also informed that Zeesan was residing in Dubai under false identity of Ali Akbar, carrying an Indian passport. It was later found that Zeesan also had a Dominican passport.
After the person was arrested in Dubai, contacts were made with Dhaka to ascertain the identity of the person.
Mohiul Islam says: “Dubai has asked for many documents which we will provide; then efforts will be made to bring him back through respective ministries. We are hopeful of bringing him back to start a trial.”
Zeesan is among the top 23 terrorists of the country in the last decade. He controlled Gulshan, Banani, Badda Motijheel and other areas and took extortion money from businessmen.
Zeesan came under spotlight after killing two DB policemen in 2003. In 2005, he fled the country and entered India. Sources say, at that time, Zeesan entered India illegally and collected a passport under the name Ali Akbar Chowdhury.
Zeesan came under the radar recently when his name was mentioned by two arrested Jubo League leaders, facing corruption charges.
